Fix It Friday Week #15 @ I ♥ Faces

Fix it friday again....I love it! I have been taking a bit of a photography break in May with all the busy things going on, parties, soccer games, and yard work!! (Never ending yard work!) So the fix it friday's have been keeping my creative juices flowing!) I am using photoshop 7.0.
Here is the original picture submitted by Jennifer from Confessions of a Working Mom.

My first edits were to lighten the image, boost the colors and sharpness, then make the eyes pop! I smoothed out the skin as well since the lightening process brought out the white fuzzies.

On this final draft I just enhanced the above version by cropping in close to her face and then running "Lovely and Ethereal" from PW. (one of my favorites!)

On this one I took the cropping even closer in and made the picture into a vertical layout. Then I ran "70's" action from PW (love her!) What would fix it friday be for me without a 70's action picture?! :)

"Ponytail Princess" = Fix it Friday @ I ♥ Faces

This weeks photo comes from Katarina @ Rambunctious Joy. This sweet little girl is adorable.

The Original Image:

My first edit was to crop it and boost the colors, lighting and sharpness:

I then did a high contrast black and white:

I wanted to try a change the background a bit. I layered a texture over the image, lowered the opacity and then used a mask to remove the texture from the Ponytail Princess:

On this edit I extended the canvas on both sides of the little girl. Then I cloned the background in to create a continued background. I then boosted the colors, and ran PW's "Lovely and Ethereal":

Fix It Friday Week 13 @ I ♥ Faces

Fix it Friday again...yay!
This week we are fixing the following picture....the first thing I noticed was the bright background and underexposed subject. I thought of using PW's action to "dim the lights" and it worked beautifully. My edits are below...I tried not to do a bunch this week, but as I have said before, once I get started, I just don't want to stop! :)

ORIGINAL

Cropped, dimmed the lights and then lightened the girl, then ran "Lovely and Ethereal"

Rotated, cropped, dimmed the background, lightened the girl and ran 70's Action

Rotated, cropped, dimmed the lights and then lightened the girl, then ran "Lovely and Ethereal"

Same as above, but converted to black and white.

Same as above, but layered the black and white over the color, then used a layer mask to remove the b&w from the tulips.

Fix It Friday

Fix It Friday at I ♥ Faces. This week they have an adorable little baby. I was really excited to work on this one. I tried really hard not to look at the edited versions so I could use my own ideas. I managed to only see one (which I loved!). So here is my take on this photo. All edits were made with Photoshop 7.

Original Shot

Rotated 45 degrees, and cloned in the blanket to fill in the voids. First I lightened the image. Then ran an action to make the eyes sparkle. I also added a texture called "sandstone" to blur out my changes to the blanket. Then I used the history brush on the face. Then I used "rounded corners" action, just cuz I like it. :)

On this picture I did the same as above, except without the sandstone filter.

This one has the "Seventies" action that I love so well. I change the layer opacity a bit to tone it down some.
On this shot, I ran the sparkly eyes action, then I lightened the picture by about 2 more steps. Then I converted it to black and white. This one is my favorite of the edits.

More Belly Shots

I am loving the black and whites....and of course one of my favorite actions... "Seventies" from Pioneer Woman.

I ♥ Faces ~ Fix it Friday ~ ....and, big news!

I wasn't gonna say it this week, but just can't help my self...I love Fix it Friday at....

Here is the original shot....adorable already! Look at those dimples!!

So first I just lightened the shot a tiny bit and sharpened it. The rest of my changes are based off of this one.

You might recognize this action from Pioneer Woman....its called Heartland. It is one of my favorites, but is sometimes hard to get just right because I usually want to tweak the layers a bit to get it looking how I want it.

This one has a color boost as well as a black and white layer over it...I changed the black and white layer to an overlay and that is how I got the dark contrasts on it.

I think this last one is my favorite. There is something about black and whites and kids....its just classic. I love how this one pops out the contrasts too!

On a totally different note....big news!

I am heading off tonight to Mexico! Ahh...2 days notice just is not enough. But I think I will be fine. I am going with 2 high school students, and 3 other adults from church. We will be driving down...around 18 hours and should arrive tomorrow afternoon in AZ. I am really excited about it and can't wait to go to the orphanage. That might be my favorite part of the trip (already!) but it might also be the part that kills me. I don't know if I can leave any of the little ones there! :( We will also be visiting a church that some of the congregation built around 20 years ago. I am really excited about the whole trip. I am sure I'll take lots of pictures and I'll post them sometime about 10 days from now.

See you then!

Another Fix It Friday @ I ♥ Faces

Wow, I can't believe a week has gone by already! I have been busily working on 3 invitations over the past week...so the time has been flying. I am planning a giveaway for next Weds. for a custom card or invitation!

My favorite time of the week over at I ♥ Faces! Its Fix It Friday!! This sweet little one hardly needed anything. (in my opinion) But I did boost the picture and tried to make the baby's eyes stand out a bit more. I did tone down the red in a birth mark (I think it is anyway) on the arm...but I didn't want to remove it completely since that is a part of baby! I also tried to add some pink highlights to the blanket because I am under the impression that this is a little girl and wanted that to be more evident.

And of course, I have more than one....as always!

The Original

Cropped Black and White

Boost with "eye pop" action

Same as above with some fun artsy accents.

My trusty "70's" Action...that I love on so many different pictures!

101 Posts

This is my 101st post! Wow...can't quite believe that. My photographer friend, http://www.jennifertibbettsphotography.com/ had a post about the some actions she uses. I had not found a picture that I liked one of the actions on yet, and decided to try the same thing she did. (Just call me a copy cat!) I really like the results. Here are just a few more snow pictures that we took this morning! Of course, they feature my three faithful models!
I absolutely LOVE the snow!

I used the 70's action on the picture above and below.
