Welcome

I am a natural light photographer, specializing in Seniors, Individuals and Engagement Sessions. I love to capture the special memories that will be cherished by your family for years to come. Capturing real life as a portrait is what I love to do. Real. Life. Portraiture.

Photographing Kids

One trick I read about is to give the child something to do...then just start shooting away. Or have them climb onto something. This gives them a reason to stay where you want them! I really like "natural" or "unposed" pictures. They might not be exactly right all the time, and you definitely can use some posing here and there...but for the most part I really like the unposed look.

These pictures are taken of my own kids....to practice and try out some different settings on my camera.

Just a safetey note, NEVER spend time "hanging out" on the railroad tracks! I had to zoom out as far as I could to make it look like I was far way from the kiddos since I just didn't want to step too far away from them. (Though we could see forever in both directions that there was no train...)

This is one of my personal favorites...not because it is "such a great picture" but because it is just a perfect rendition of who my kids are! :)

In these ones it seemed that in every picture one of my daughters had a "broken neck." (As I refer to it!)

Adorable little guy....

(This is a custom collage that I created for the family in a 12 x 12 size.)

This was my first time to "formally" capture a little one this age. (I have always set up my own shoots for my kiddos!) This guy is just over 1 month old and he is just TOO cute! I love his bright blue eyes! His mama is just as adorable with her care and attention to him. So sweet! I just asked her to hold him close and she did the rest!

The picture above is my favorite from the day.

Jennifer

While visiting with my sister Jennifer, we held an impromtu photo shoot....isn't she cute?!

The pictures turned out great considering we came unprepared.

Who Am I?

I am an aspiring photographer...a wife, a mom and a home-school teacher! I have been in love with photographs for as long as I can remember.
My mom is one who always has a camera in hand...or at least in her purse! So I sorta grew up with the idea of taking lots of pictures.
About 7 years ago my husband surprised me with a 35mm Nikon N65.

HPIM2146

I was so thrilled! I could finally take better than average pictures! As I began to learn more about the camera and it's capabilities, I was impressed with all the functions...but as I took more pictures it became obvious to me that the camera isn't what made the pictures great!

This is me when I was pregnant with our youngest daughter.

What made the pictures great, is what I was capturing. I had an eye for things that other people couldn't see. I realized that so many moments go by in our lives unnoticed. There are photo opportunities every day. While playing games with some friends one evening I glanced under the table and noticed this....

"It's love seen, and unseen."

Life is all about loving. I am excited to record my first wedding on August 2nd. Nathan and Sarah are getting married and I have been chosen to capture the day for them. I can't wait!
So thats me, I am learning more about photography everyday! I could throw out fancy terms like lots of other photo blogs do, but honestly, I would rather just do what I do to take great shots!
I can't wait to post pictures of the wedding....in the meantime, check back soon for more pictures of an adorable family.

Independence Day

I love turning everyday pictures into something more....

Sister & Brother Outside

We didn't get too many outdoor pictures this day, due to the bright sun and limited time frame of the models. But these two kiddos are super cuties!

Family Shots

These are portraits I took of my own family...it is amazing how much you can learn about a person during a photo shoot. Even my own kids each taught me something new about themselves. One is a natural model! :)
